Lara Hinds

"When God speaks there is motion.” Lara will never forget that statement. It helped her understand the deeper reason for why she loves to dance. Dancing allows her, along with all creation, to participate in the motion God is initiating. She is learning her part in the Creator’s grand dance of LIFE. Lara’s story is not typical (having started ballet training at age seventeen), but it is filled with proof that God takes things that look impossible and brings them to life. Lara never dreamed that God would bring the choreography of full-length story ballets, numerous Winter Performances, and recitals out of her heart and onto a stage. She is in awe of where He has led! Lara initially trained with Naomi Campbell Widelski and Ballet Lubbock (1999-2003). She was honored to be a trainee with Ballet Magnificat!, and was also an instructor in their lower School of the Arts (2004-2007). In 2007 Lara began teaching choreography at CITA.

“I have been blessed to learn from so many gifted teachers from several countries and I am so grateful for the skills and life lessons that I’ve gained from each of them. Looking ahead, I am excited to see how God will move and reveal Himself through Christ in the Arts. I deeply value each student, family member, staff member, council member etc. We all have vital role in the glorious dance that God is preparing for us this year!”

Lara is the Artistic Director and Choreographer. She has taught all levels, but currently has a focus on Fouette, Partnering and Choreography.

Lara’s favorite scripture changes rather frequently, but for the moment it is Ephesians 1:17-19. “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.”

When she’s not at the studio, Lara can be found being outside around God’s beautiful creation! Walking her dog, reading, singing, gardening, crocheting, biking, playing with her wonderful nieces and nephews, watching good movies, and listening to podcasts.
