Training Focus:
- 5 day intensive workshop designed for technical improvement in Ballet, Conditioning,
Musical Theatre, Modern, Hip-Hop, Pointe, Character, Variations
(Choreography), Partnering* (Adult and Young Partners)
- Christ-honoring environment and focus
- 6 levels of training offered (designated as levels A – F )
- 30 minute rotations to different classes/studios with different instructors
* Classes offered dependent upon level
Schedule:
Level A – 10:00a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Level B – 10:00a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Level C – 11:00a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Level D – 11:30a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Level E – 2:00p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Level F – 2:30p.m. - 6:00p..m.
Adult Class – 1:00p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Guys Class (ages 10 and up - includes partnering class) – 1:00p.m. – 2:30p.m.
Young Partnering only (ages 10-15) – 1:00p.m – 1:30 p.m.
Partnering (ages 16 -up) – 5:00p.m.-6:00p.m.
Worship – 2:30-3:00p.m. (All participants are welcome and encouraged to attend!)
Please note: Since this is an intensive workshop and classes will run longer than they do during the regular school year, we encourage students to eat a solid lunch before coming and bring a good-sized water bottle. Healthy snacks will be provided for refreshment at the end of the classes.
**In-studio demonstration by students for parents and friends on Friday afternoon. Time to be announced.
Placement:
Placement of students in each class is at instructor’s discretion and will be decided at the time of enrollment. We will place according to age and number of years trained, assign to a level and re-adjust if needed.
Guest Instructor:
Ben Caldwell ~ Hip-Hop, Musical Theatre
Benjamin Caldwell is a talented dancer, actor, and singer from Edmond, Oklahoma. He is a teacher at A.R.T.S. Revealing The Son dance studio and works for a Christian missions organization called Arrows International. Ben is a graduate of the University of Houston's School of Theatre and has an extensive performance background in the U.S. and abroad. Over the past 11 years Ben has ministered in Venezuela, Paraguay, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Japan, India, Russia, Poland, Australia, Indonesia, and Israel. He has performed with Christ in the Arts in four recent performances, “Journey to the High Places” (The “Shepherd”) and “EPIC” (The “Enemy”). Ben deeply enjoys dancing and is thankful to God for the ability to dance before Him.
CITA Instructors:
Lara Hinds ~ Ballet, Variations, Character
Lara Hinds is a 2000 homeschool graduate. She began her ballet training with Naomi Campbell Widelski at the age of seventeen and continued with Yvonne Racz at Ballet Lubbock. As a ballet company member she performed in a variety of roles in The Nutcracker and other spring performances. She has also performed in Texas Tech’s productions of Bartered Bride and West Side Story. In 2001, Lara and her sisters began a small ballet studio to teach homeschool students in the Lubbock area which now has evolved into the Christ In The Arts Ballet Program. In 2005, she was invited to join the Premiere Christian Ballet Company, Ballet Magnificat! in Jackson, MS as a trainee. She has studied under Sol Nazario, Jiri and Cassandra Vorborsky, Kathy Thibodeaux, and Tracy Thompson; and has performed in several Ballet Magnificat! Company repertoires. She has been on staff in their ballet school as an upper and lower level teacher. As of spring 2007, Lara graduated from the Ballet Magnificat! Trainee program. She recently choreographed her first full-length ballet “Journey to the High Places” in May 2009 and performed it again in 2010. Her mission is to train students in the fine art of ballet and the joy of expression through dance from a Christian perspective.
Katrina Reimer ~ Ballet, Variations
Katrina Reimer began her dance training at The Studio at the age of nine. She joined CITA in 2006 and has been a member of the company for four years. Last summer, she attended the Ballet Magnificat! Summer Intensive in Jackson, MS. She led dance camp for SportsQuest with CityView Christian Fellowship this summer. She has danced in “The Christmas Shoes”, the CITA winter performances, “A Tale of the Kingdom” and played the role of Sorrow/Joy in both productions of “Journey to the High Places” and most recently “EPIC”. Katrina's desire is to teach ballet technique in an atmosphere of worship to the Lord.
David Hinds ~ Conditioning, Partnering
David Hinds is a 2008 homeschool graduate and a graduate of South Plains College Fire Training Academy and is currently employed at Covenant Medical Centers ER. He was introduced to dance activities through his involvement in Ballet Lubbock’s The Nutcracker performances at age 10. He began his formal dance training with Yvonne Racz at Ballet Lubbock in 2004 and was a company member until 2006. He has been a company member with CITA for four years and has been involved in all the CITA productions. He has also attended Ballet Magnificat’s Summer Intensive Workshop in 2005. He enjoys teaching partnering & conditioning classes and looks forward to training young women, men & boys to in the special skills required for dance & partnering. He is especially excited about creating an atmosphere where true, godly masculinity can be expressed through dance.
Dance Attire:
Girls:
Black or pink leotard (modest...please!)
Black, pink or white tights
Ballet skirt (length above knees), Black soffe shorts, or black jazz pants
Black, pink or white shoes (please avoid the “house-shoe type” ballet slipper)
Hair in bun or other secure hairstyle that keeps hair away from face and neck (please make sure to avoid flyaways and stray hairs in face)
Please avoid large jewelry – no watches, rings, bracelets or necklaces allowed (for safety-sake)
Guys:
Black, grey, or dark blue workout-type pants
White t-shirt or sleeveless shirt
Black jazz shoes

Level A: $50 (5 hours of instruction)
Level B: $75 (7 ½ hours of instruction)
Level C: $100 (10 hours of instruction)
Level D: $100 (10 hours of instruction)
Level E: $125 (12 ½ hours of instruction)
Level F: $150 (15 hours of instruction)
Guys Class: $ 75 (7 ½ hours instruction)
Adult Class: $ 50 (7 ½ hours instruction)
