Lara Hinds - Artistic Director ~ All Levels

Lara Hinds is a 2000 homeschool graduate. She began her ballet training with Yvonne Racz at Ballet Lubbock. As a ballet company member she performed in a variety of roles in The Nutcracker and other Spring Performances. She has also performed in Texas Tech’s productions of The Bartered Bride and West Side Story. In 2001, Lara and her sisters began a small ballet studio to teach homeschool students in the Lubbock area which now has evolved into the Christ in the Arts Ballet Program. In 2005, she was invited to join the premiere Christian ballet company, Ballet Magnificat! in Jackson, MS as a trainee. She has studied under Sol Nazario, Jiri and Cassandra Vorborsky, Kathy Thibodeaux, and Tracy Thompson; and has performed in several Ballet Magnificat! Company repertoires. She has been on staff in their ballet school as an upper and lower level teacher. In May 2007, Lara graduated from the Ballet Magnificat! Trainee program. She recently choregraphed her first full-length ballet “Journey to the High Places” in May 2009 and her mission is to train students in the fine art of ballet and the joy of expression through dance from a Christian perspective.
 

Rachel Hinds - Instructor ~ All Levels

Rachel is a 2006 homeschool graduate. She began her training with Naomi Campbell at age 11 and continued her training with Yvonne Racz at Ballet Lubbock. As a company member with Ballet Lubbock she performed in several roles, including two years as Clara in The Nutcracker. She has also performed in several of Ballet Lubbock’s annual Spring Performances, Texas Tech’s The Bartered Bride, Elisabeth Gillaspy’s Dance by Numbers, Daniel Catanach’s Fortuna Tanz, and Yvonne Racz’s Ragtime and Tribute to Balanchine. She has completed a year and a half as a trainee with Ballet Magnificat! in Jackson, MS and has returned to teach for Christ in the Arts this year. Her desire is to assist students in expressing a joyful heart in the Lord in while learning excellence in dance technique.
 

Katrina Reimer - Instructor

Katrina Reimer began her dance training at The Studio at the age of nine. She joined CITA in 2006 and has been a member of the company for four years. In 2009, she attended the Ballet Magnificat! Summer Intensive in Jackson, MS and will be attending again in 2011. She led dance camp for SportsQuest with CityView Christian Fellowship this summer. She has danced in "The Christmas Shoes", the CITA winter performances, "A Tale of the Kingdom – the Musical" and played the role of Sorrow/Joy in both productions of "Journey to the High Places" and most recently "EPIC". Katrina's desire is to teach ballet technique in an atmosphere of worship to the Lord.
 
 

Sydney Kennedy - Instructor

Sydney Kennedy is a homeschooled high school student. She began her early dance training at Diana’s Dance Center at the age of 5. After 2 years, she began her formal ballet training with Lara and Sara Hinds and has been with what eventually developed into the Christ in the Arts Program for nine years. A company member since 2007, Sydney is honored to be the first company member that is solely a product of Christ in the Arts. Besides Lara Hinds, she has had the privilege of training under Naomi Campbell Widelski and has been influenced by a mini workshop with Ballet Magnificat! and summer workshops with Christ in the Arts, with guest instructors, Ben Caldwell and Heidi Schoonover. Sydney has performed in all of the Christ in the Arts Winter and Spring Performances, most notably in the roles of young Amanda in “A Tale of the Kingdom,” Pride, and Acceptance with Joy in “Journey to the High Places,” and Mary in “Epic.” In 2010 Sydney began serving CITA as a substitute teacher for levels 2, 2A, and 4, and in 2011 she has the privilege teaching level 2 once a week. As an instructor, Sydney loves the opportunity to share her love for dance and her love for Jesus with girls of all ages, especially with her young students.
 

David Hinds - Instructor ~ Men's Classes, Partnering, Conditioning

David Hinds is a 2008 homeschool graduate. He is also a recent graduate of South Plains College Fire Training Academy. He was introduced to dance activities through his involvement in Ballet Lubbock’s The Nutcracker performances at age 10 (2000 – 2004). He began his formal dance training with Yvonne Racz at Ballet Lubbock in 2004 and was a company member until 2006. He took a break from dance training for 2 years to play varsity tennis at Trinity Christian High School. He returned to continue his dance training with CITA in 2008. He taught hip-hop & conditioning classes for the Parkway Neighborhood Center in 2007-08. He attended Ballet Magnificat’s Summer Intensive Workshop in 2005. He enjoys teaching partnering & conditioning classes with CITA and looks forward to training young women, men & boys in the special skills required for dance & partnering. He is especially excited about creating an atmosphere where true, godly masculinity can be expressed through dance.
