Mission Statement
Christ in the Arts (CITA) is a group of people that have come together with a passion to experience and reflect the limitless possibilities of godly artistic expression when Jesus is permitted to be the final Master and Director.
Rather than being in a predetermined position with a stated purpose of our own, we deeply desire to be vessels that He can and will use to express Himself in our culture, understanding that His direction for us will be an ongoing discovery.
We claim no great wisdom or vast experience, but a humble determination to give Him the central and highest place in us. We believe that for any work to truly magnify Him, it must be "...from Him, and through Him, and to Him..." (Romans 11:36)
Our Highest Priority
Our focus has always been to provide an opportunity for West Texas residents, especially those of the homeschool and private school communities, to express their creative and artistic talents in an environment that honors the heart of our Creator, specifically in the area of the performing arts.
Before the establishment of CITA as a non-profit entity, we did several dramas under the name "Kingdom Players". As we worked together on each of these productions, it became increasingly apparent that God's blessing on all that we did came from a growing corporate faith and unity of spiritual direction.
Through those experiences we have learned to place a priority on the spirit of each person participating rather than merely on their talent or expertise. With this as our highest priority we have found that, in many cases, when the willingness to serve and learn was present, the ability to perform would naturally flow, often beyond what anyone would have suspected. Therefore, we encourage anyone to become involved, regardless of past experience or perceived talent ~ if their heart is really toward the Lord and there is a willingness to give their five loaves and two fish for Him to use.
What is important to us is that all persons involved in CITA be in the position of yieldedness and dependency on the Lord in everything, especially in relation to their efforts in the performing arts. While personal talent and ability is part of what indicates where one should be placed, it is not the most important factor to us. One's heart toward the Lord and their willingness to serve will continue to be our highest priority.
