A Little History

Before the formation of CITA as a non-profit entity , a small studio was opened by two homeschool students to provide classical ballet instruction from a Christian perspective to students in the Lubbock area. At the same time a core of five students began to teach drama classes and eventually performed several dramas (with over 50 students) under the name "Kingdom Players" (1999 - 2006). The success of these combined efforts in the homeschool/private school community ultimately evolved into the creation of CITA.

We have found, in our years of service to these communities, an increase in desire for participation, not only in numbers but in types of activities as well. There have been several requests by students and parents to expand the services to include other of the fine arts, such as instruction in vocal technique/training through the formation of adult and children's choirs/ensembles, which will in turn enhance the quality of the musicals that we perform.

Thus far, we have been able to evaluate our success by the amount of new and returning students per class each year and by the acceptance and advancement of students that have graduated out of our programs into professional training schools (i.e. Ballet Magnificat! in Jackson, MS). Certainly the satisfaction that each student or parent feels after having participated in the program as to whether the time and money spent was valuable is an indicator of the success of our efforts. It has also been gratifying to receive commendations in public from those who have attended various performances through the years.

Our plan regarding long-range development is certainly open given the perspective set forth in our mission statement. We definitely enjoy what we do and believe that our services have been and will continue to be of benefit to all residents in the West Texas area. The quality and content of our programs are worthy of support, especially by individuals and organizations who desire to see traditional values upheld, our Lord glorified and can appreciate promoting such through the beautifully creative arena of the performing arts. Our identity as a quality performing arts entity in the West Texas community continues to grow.
